Emiliano Martinez became a fan favourite at Arsenal last season thanks to his outstanding performances after Bernd Leno’s injury. The back-up goalkeeper played a large role in the FA success for the Gunners, but he now appears set for a move away from the Emirates.
According to the Telegraph, Martinez appears to be set for a switch Aston Villa, after Arsenal accepted a bid of around £15 million.
The Argentine wanted a promise of first-team football, which Arsenal could not provide due to Leno now being fit enough to play between the sticks again.
The deal that Aston Villa are offering is thought to be worth around £60,000 a week, with some outlets saying that the South American has already accepted the terms ahead of a move to Villa Park for the start of the new season.

Some Arsenal fans may be disappointed with this news as they may have been hoping that the goalkeeper would put pen to paper on the new contract that had been offered to him, but it is now likely that he is going to leave the club.
Mikel Arteta may now be in the hunt for another backup goalkeeper to add to his squad, yet the funds from this deal could also be used to bring in somebody like Houssem Aouar for the midfield, which many fans should be pleased about.
Arsenal struggled to find a solution in goal for a number of seasons and they had seemingly found themselves two very good ‘keepers, so it is a shame that one of them will now be leaving.
