Arsenal have made it clear that they are looking to bolster their midfield and one creative player that that are interested in is Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that the Arsenal board are ‘in love’ with Aouar, and that a transfer offer is expected to be made in the near future.
However, he also stated that any deal may be difficult for the club to pull off due to the transfer fee expected to be around £60 million, which Arsenal are thought to not have unless they raise funds by selling some current stars.
With the club on the verge of moving out a few players such as Ainsley Maitland Niles, Rob Holding and Callum Chambers the £60 million fee does not seem too far away for the Gunners.
Romano also stated that he is ‘sure’ that Arsenal will come forward with a formal bid for the French midfielder in the near future and that he expects the Gunners to do all they can to lure the 22-year-old to the Emirates.

The player’s talent was on show during Lyon’s Champions League cup run, resulting in many Gunners’ fans becoming excited by the prospect of the French midfielder joining up with Mikel Arteta next season.
Aouar is definitely a player for the future and if Arsenal manage to secure his signature, he could play a pivotal part in Arsenal’s success for the foreseeable future.
He could be seen as a Mesut Ozil replacement but he can also play deeper in midfield, thus providing great versatility to Arteta as he looks to get Arsenal back competing for the Premier League title.
