Mikel Arteta is thought to be looking to bring in a couple of midfielders, with interest heating up for two talented players as the transfer window progresses.
Houssem Aouar from Lyon is reportedly a target for Arteta to help bolster his midfield. The Lyon number eight is coming off of the back of a very impressive season with the French side, who made it to the semi-final stage of the Champions League.
Arsenal have reportedly already made a bid for the French midfielder, which Lyon are yet to respond to, an offer incorporating Matteo Guendouzi. The asking price for the box-to0box midfielder is thought to be around £50 million and Arsenal technical director Edu is already in talks with the Lyon chief director, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The other midfielder Arteta has shown interest in is Atletico’s Thomas Partey. Due to the ongoing rumours since January, the Ghana international is clearly a big target for the Arsenal manager and has seen his bid twice already for his signature, with another bid being imminent, according to reports.

The Atletico defensive midfielder would provide a lot of solidity in the midfielder and would most likely play alongside Granit Xhaka next season, with a creative midfielder alongside them, making a 3 in midfield, this being Artetas desired shape.
Arteta has spoken about his plans to play three in the middle and has tried it several times, but the team has seemed to struggle in the shape against both Brighton and Watford.
Due to Arteta’s side struggling last season in his desired formation, it is no surprise he would like reinforcements in the midfield with Partey and Aouar being his main targets.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal will be able to sign both players during this transfer window, but with the outgoings of a few players, Arsenal fans can be hopeful as the club seem to be seriously heating up their interest for the duo.
