With Arsenal now just awaiting a decision from Gabriel Magalhaes on whether he signs for the club or not, it looks like the club’s attention is about to start shifting towards Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
Arsenal have been linked with the Ghana international since January, but have yet to make a breakthrough with any sort of deal as Atletico are determined to not let him go for any less than his £45 million release clause.
Arsenal have reportedly had two bids already rejected from the Spanish club, after offering a fee worth approximately £26 million. It was also reported that the Gunners tried to incorporate Matteo Guendouzi in a deal but that did not interest the Spanish giants.
The North London club will have to wait a while longer if they wish to complete this deal and may even have to raise their own funds so they can capture the signing of Partey.
A player that is rumoured to be leaving the club is Greek centre back Sokratis, and he is thought to be wanted by Italian side Napoli.
Sokratis is valued at a fee just under £10 million and his potential transfer away from the Emirates could play a big part in the Partey deal and whether it can happen.
Another player that has been heavily linked with a move away is Lucas Torreira, who has attracted the likes of AC Milan and Roma.

Given the current state of finances in football, it’s understandable that Mikel Arteta may need to sell payers in order to raise funds to invest elsewhere.
Personally speaking, if the club can move both Sokratis and Torreira on and bring in Partey and Magalhaes, then that will be tow excellent pieces of business in a summer where getting deals done could prove to be tricky.
