The news that plenty of Arsenal fans will be hoping for at the moment is the news that club captain Pierre -Emerick Aubameyang has signed a new contract with the club, and it looks like this could soon be the case.
Many Arsenal fans were left hopeful after the FA Cup final victory as the Gabon international posted a photo of him and manager Mikel Arteta on his social accounts with the caption “My Manager.”
Arteta is ‘confident’ that his star forward will remain at the club for years to come as it is believed that the Spanish manager has convinced Arsenal’s leading scorer that the club can compete for silverware again, according to the Times.
The new deal would see Aubameyang get a wage increase to an amount close to £250,000 a week, making him the second-highest earner at the North London club, behind midfielder Mesut Ozil.

Arteta and the Arsenal board will be desperate for the striker to sign a new contract due to his world-class goal scoring form over the past two seasons. The Gabonese international has scored 54 goals and provided 12 assists in his 93 appearances in the Premier League. This saw him take home the Golden Boot in 2018/2019 and come runner up the season after.
Countless Arsenal fans across the globe are anticipating this contract renewal as if it was a new signing and would give them a large amount of hope going into the next few seasons.
Paying a large salary to an ageing player might not always be the wisest decision but in this case, the Gunners are right to do what it takes to play a player with the quality of their captain.
