Liverpool show interest in signing Bukayo Saka

Liverpool have shown an interest in signing Arsenal teenager Bukayo Saka, according to a report from Transfermarkt.

Saka’s current contract at Arsenal expires in 2021 and despite the club continuing to discuss a new deal with the player’s representatives, Saka has not yet agreed to sign an extension, meaning that he will soon enter the final year of his contract at the Emirates.

Whilst Arsenal apparently remain confident that Saka will commit his future to the club, Liverpool are apparently ready to swoop in and sign him if he decides not to agree to sign the new contract.

In what has been a pretty dreadful campaign so far, both pre and post-lockdown, the breakthrough of Saka has been one of few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing campaign for Arsenal.

He has ten assists and three goals in 31 appearances this season and has shown his versatility by playing as a winger, a left-back and as an attacking midfielder.

Given the numerous issues surrounding Arsenal at present, the Gunners should be doing all they can to tie Saka down to a new deal as quickly as possible before he gets the chance to have his head turned, be Liverpool or any other potential suitors.

Unfortunately, it feels like it would not be a shock to see Saka turn the Gunners down at this stage, given the mess they seem to be in at the moment.

If that does happen, then Arsenal will need to decide whether to cash in or hold onto the player and let him leave for free.
