Several Arsenal fans have slammed Goal’s decision not to include Arsene Wenger in a graphic posted to social media, that features 30 managers accompanied by the caption, “Who is the greatest manager of all time?”
Wenger took charge of the Gunners in 1996 and was the club’s manager until 2018, with his 22-year stint being the longest ever by a manager with one club, solely in the Premier League era.
During his time as Arsenal boss, Wenger won three Premier League titles, seven FA Cup titles and took his side to their first-ever Champions League final, losing to Barcelona in 2006.
Wenger also oversaw ‘The Invincibles’ in a season where his side never lost a single Premier League match, duplicating a feat only achieved once before, by Preston North End in the 1888/89 season.
In their graphic on Twitter, Goal named current Premier League managers Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti as candidates for the greatest of all time, as well as former Premier League managers Louis van Gaal and Ferguson.
Reacting on social media, a number of Arsenal fans were incensed that Wenger had been left out of consideration.
