Several Arsenal fans have dismissed the club’s interest in Newcastle midfielder Matty Longstaff, claiming they don’t want their club to sign the 20-year-old.
Mirror Sport report that Arsenal currently lead the chase to sign the boyhood Magpie, who TEAMtalk claim has come to the decision that he wants to leave St James’ Park, despite the Magpies having offered him a new contract.
Arsenal are said to be in prime position to sign Longstaff, who is interesting a total of eight clubs, with both AC and Inter Milan having expressed serious interest earlier this year.
With Mesut Ozil entering the final 12 months of his contract at the Emirates, Longstaff could be seen as a potential long-term replacement for the German, while as a natural defensive midfielder he could uproot Granit Xhaka or Lucas Torreira.
However, many Arsenal fans don’t want to see this happen, with a number of them taking to social media to dismiss the club’s interest in Longstaff.
