Arsenal should consider summer move for Sanson as his price tag drops

Marseille could be set to drop their asking price for midfielder Morgan Sanson by around €10 million, according to Le10 Sport, and Arsenal should consider him to be an option this summer.

The French Ligue 1 club had hoped to demand around €40 million for the 25-year-old this summer, although with the pressures of financial fair play breathing down their necks, that fee could be dropped in order for them to get Sanson off their books.

Le10 Sport claim that Sanson could cost between €20-25 million for the majority of clubs this summer, while Premier League clubs could expect to pay around €30 million for the former France youth international.

With Mikel Arteta on the hunt for a new midfielder this summer, the 25-year old should be someone on Arsenal’s radar, given the club’s desire for reinforcements in that position.

Sanson has been a regular for Marseille this season, scoring five goals and assisting five in 27 Ligue 1 appearances, which is both more goals and more assists than any of Arsenal’s current crop of midfield talent.

While Le10 Sport don’t specifically name Arsenal as an interested party, the Gunners have previously been linked with the midfielder, who is now said to be attracting interest from Everton, Tottenham, Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa and Southampton.

Should Arsenal wish to sign a dependable midfielder ahead of next season, Sanson could be good value for money.
