Signing Kokcu could see Arteta bring attractive attacking football back

Arsenal are reportedly willing to outbid Sevilla for Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu and the 19-year-old could help Mikel Arteta bring attacking and exciting football back to North London.

Mail Online reported a few weeks ago that the Gunners had opened talks with the Dutch club about doing a deal for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder, while other clubs such as Everton and Sevilla are also said to be keen.

Mirror Sport now claim that Arteta is is keen to add some attacking flair to his squad this summer, leading La Razon, to report that Arsenal hold interest in the teenage attacker.

Kokcu recently broke into Feyenoord’s first team, and has impressed in his 22 Eredivisie appearances this season, where he has directly contributed to six goals.

La Razon report that Arsenal are willing to offer around £25 million to land Kokcu, which could be more than Sevilla would be willing to part with, and this is news that could excite Arsenal fans.

Unai Emery’s tactical approach with the Gunners was described as “boring”, with fans having been left yearning for more creative football, and now Arteta could be about to bring that back to the Emirates.

Kokcu is an advanced midfielder, who while versatile, thrives playing to his dribbling and passing strengths, while his impressive vision has established him as someone who could potentially become Mesut Ozil’s long-term successor.

Should Arteta land Kokcu, Arsenal fans should feel excited by Arteta’s determination and ambition to bring positive and attractive football back to the Emirates.
