Arsenal could be interested in signing soon-to-be free agent Thomas Meunier this summer, according to HLN, as translated by Sport Witness, and that could prove to be problematic for Cedric Soares.
The Belgian outlet claimed that Arsenal could reignite interest in the Paris Saint-Germain defender this summer while refuting claims that Borussia Dortmund had already agreed a deal.
Meunier’s contract at the Parc des Princes runs out this summer, and with HLN claiming that Unai Emery tried hard to sign the Belgium international last summer, it is speculated that Mikel Arteta could also pursue the player.
Should Arsenal opt to move for the 28-year old, it could spell the end for Cedric Soares, whose loan deal expires in the summer.
The Portugal international will also see his contract with Southampton come to an end, and the right-back would have hoped to have played well enough for the Gunners to earn a permanent contract to support and challenge Hector Bellerin.
However, if the Gunners consider Meunier instead, with the Belgian the same age as Cedric although with much more European football experience under his belt, the former Sporting man could find that his time at the Emirates is over before it even got going.
