Telegraph Sport understand that Mikel Arteta’s priority, once Arsenal meet up again next week, is to sort out Bukayo Saka’s contract situation, which has pleased a number of Gunners fans.
Talks over a new deal for the 18-year old had been at a deadlock before football was suspended last week, with the versatile teenager having just 15 months left on his current deal.
Arsenal understandably don’t want to lose Saka for a compensation fee, so the club have their sights set on tying him down to a new long-term deal.
Arteta and his Gunners squad are currently in self-isolation, but once they return next week the Spaniard will get started on finding a solution to the England youth international’s contract situation.
Reacting to the news on social media, a number of Arsenal fans have backed Arteta’s priority decision, calling on the young winger to commit his long-term future to the Gunners.
