Arsenal given boost as West Ham target Diop replacement

Arsenal may have received a major boost in their pursuit of West Ham centre-back Issa Diop, with Mirror Sport reporting that the Hammers are eyeing potential replacements for the defender.

Metro Sport claim that the Gunners are set on signing the 23-year old defender before next season begins, with Mikel Arteta looking for defensive reinforcements ahead of his first full season as a manager.

Diop has emerged as a target, and with West Ham now pursuing Manchester United’s Phil Jones, the Gunners could benefit from the Hammers finding a ready made replacement for the Frenchman.

Jones has barely featured for the Red Devils this season, making just two Premier League appearances, and so the England international could decide to trade Old Trafford for the London Stadium this summer.

If he does, it could see West Ham loosen their grip on Diop, allowing for Arsenal to make their move for the former Toulouse man.
