Turkish giants Besiktas have reportedly made an offer to take Mohamed Elneny on loan for a second season, and Arsenal should allow him to go.
According to Turkish Football, Besiktas are keen to keep Elneny around and have contacted Arenal as they look to secure a deal for the Egyptian international.
The report claims that they are unable to afford the €18 million permanent option in his current loan contract and want to take him on a temporary basis for a second campaign.
Should Arsenal accept the offer?
Yes. Elneny is surplus to requirements at Arsenal and is currently playing regular football for Besiktas in Turkey. Although they are currently unable to afford a permanent move for Elneny, letting him join the club on loan for a second season could give the Turkish side time to get the funds together to put a deal in place to sign him in the long run.
Arsenal also have plenty of players readily available in their squad who can play in his position. Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka, Dani Ceballos, Lucas Torreira and Joe Willock are all able to operate in central midfield, leaving little need for Elneny at the Emirates next season. This means that Arsenal can afford to let him join Besiktas on loan for another year and hold off on earning a permanent fee for his services.
Taking all of this into consideration, it could be a good piece of business for Arsenal to send him back out on loan. It gets his wages off the bill for another year and avoids having a potentially disgruntled character in the dressing room, due to his lack of minutes on the pitch.
