Mikel Arteta has revealed to the media, as reported by the Express, that Arsenal are in talks over a new long-term deal with Bukayo Saka, and many fans of the club believe that an extension is deserved.
The 18-year old winger has played frequently as a full-back during Arteta’s time as Arsenal manager, deputising in the absence of both Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac.
Now reports claim that the young star could be set to be handed a new deal worth around £35,000-a-week, which would be a considerable step up from his current £3,000-a-week deal.
Since moving to the back under the Spaniard, Saka has demonstrated a natural defensive awareness, while he has stood faithful to his attacking talents, proving to be dangerous in the final third and from crossing opportunities in particular.
Reacting to the potential new deal for Saka on social media, a number of Arsenal fans were delighted to hear that progress is being made, although many believe that Saka should be handed a bigger pay rise.
