Several Arsenal fans have pleaded with striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to remain at Arsenal this summer.
The Gabon international forward faces an uncertain future at the Emirates, with the Gunners keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal as he approaches the final 12 months of his current contract at the club.
Despite the lure of Champions League football once again likely to tempt the 30-year-old into leaving, with Arsenal unlikely to qualify for Europe’s elite competition for the third successive season, Aubameyang has offered some semblance of hope to fans.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the former Borussia Dortmund man claimed that he was happy in North London, revealing that it “means a lot” to play for Arsenal. He said:
It means a lot (to play here).
When I was younger I used to watch Arsenal because they always had great players and they won trophies as well.
I think it is really a pleasure to be here, I am really happy – that’s my feeling.
Following these comments, a number of Arsenal fans have taken to social media to beg him to remain with the club beyond the end of his current contract.
