Arsenal must be fast if they wish to sign Feyenoord midfielder Kokcu

Arsenal have opened talks with Feyenoord over a summer move for attacking midfielder Orkun Kokcu, according to Mail Online, and now the Gunners should act quickly to complete the transfer.

The 19-year old would reportedly cost Arsenal around £23 million, and while initial negotiation are now underway, it is believed that Feyenoord are also seeking an extension to Kokcu’s current contract.

Feyenoord are concerned, however, that they won’t have the finanicial ability to refuse a significant offer for Kokcu this summer, which has led to Arsenal’s interest in the promising young player.

Now the Gunners must get a deal done before the Euro 2020 tournament this summer, with the young attacker expected to be named in Turkey’s squad. The Mail are tipping the player to catch the eye during the tournament.

Mikel Arteta previously expressed his desire to get all of Arsenal’s summer business done before the Euro 2020 tournament, in order to prevent the club having to pay more money after international performances inflate the value of players.

At just £23 million, Kokcu could be a bargain if he can live up to his potential, and with some fans already seeing him as the ready made replacement for Mesut Ozil, the Gunners could benefit greatly from getting the business done before his price skyrockets.

Technical director Edu believes that Kokcu should be Arsenal’s priority signing, and with the club fearing that they could miss out if he does perform well at the Euros, it is now time for the Gunners to make their move.
