Arsenal have confirmed that Lucas Torreira suffered a fractured ankle against Portsmouth earlier this week, while the club couldn’t provide a timeline for his return.
The Uruguay international was taken off during the Gunners’ FA Cup clash against Portsmouth on a stretcher, and with the club’s medical team administering oxygen to the 23-year, fears were raised over the severity of the incident.
Now that the extent of the injury has been revealed, a number of Arsenal fans have vented their frustration to referee Mike Dean, who didn’t do so much as show a yellow card to Portsmouth defender James Bolton.
While some fans have attempted to argue that the tackle was tough but fair, and that the injury was an unfortunate by-product, the majority of Arsenal fans online have slammed Dean for not handling the offence properly and booking Bolton for breaking Torreira’s ankle.
Taking to social media, a number of Arsenal fans have criticised the decision, with these supporters feeling that there should have been more repercussions.
