Several Arsenal fans have taken the opportunity to slam goalkeeper Bernd Leno, following the club’s tweet celebrating his birthday.
The German, who turned 28 on Wednesday, hasn’t always been held in high regard by many of the Arsenal fan base, with Leno having been criticised on several occasions throughout the season.
Having signed from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018 for just shy of £20 million, the Germany international has been an ever-present fixture in Arsenal’s side, having played every Premier League game since making his debut against Watford in late September last season.
Leno succeeded Petr Cech, who himself wasn’t immune to fan criticism, and following Arsenal’s tweet celebrating Leno’s birthday, a number of fans have taken the opportunity to pick fault and criticise the shot-stopper, blaming him for both the club’s disappointing Premier League campaign as well as their failure to progress past Olympiakos in the Europa League last week.
