Arsenal interested in deal for Mady Camara

Arsenal are reportedly keen on a deal to sign Olympiacos midfielder Mady Camara, but the Gunner could need to act quickly amid interest from Sheffield United.

According to Greek outlet Sdna.Gr, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has demanded a detailed report on Camara after being impressed with his performances for Olympiacos against Arsenal in the Europa League.

The report also claims that Sheffield United had a €10m bid rejected in January, with the Greek giants holding out for a fee in the region of €20m.

This means that Arsenal could need to move quickly in order to strike a deal for the midfielder. If United’s interest is genuine, Arsenal could be in for a fight to land Camara at the end of the season, with the Blades currently ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Arsenal do not look set to finish in the European places this season, whilst Sheffield United could go 5th in the league if they win their game in-hand against Aston Villa. If it comes to a decision between signing for Arsenal or Sheffield United, being able to play European football could be a big factor for the midfielder, although Arsenal will still likely be seen as a bigger club than the Blades.

If Arsenal do want the player, they need to swoop in and make their offer sooner rather than later. The club should try to seal a deal before United can make their potential move in order to avoid the risk of him choosing to sign for Chris Wilder’s side instead.
