Sokratis has warned the Gunners that despite having just one year remaining on his contract, he will leave if he doesn’t receive more regular game time.
The Greek international has fallen behind Shkodran Mustafi and David Luiz in the pecking order at the Emirates in the past few weeks, having not played for the Gunners in the Premier League since the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace back in mid-January.
With his game time having been drastically reduced since Mikel Arteta’s appointment, Sokratis has indicated that he could have his eyes set on a summer move if he isn’t wanted by the Spaniard.
The 31-year old has declared that he isn’t the type of player to remain at a club picking up pay cheques if he isn’t playing, as reported by Mail Online.
I have one more year here but me, I never sit on my contract. If I’m not happy, I don’t play enough or the coach doesn’t like me, I don’t care about the contract.
For me the money is not important, it’s important I feel good, happy and the team is happy with me.
Several Arsenal fans reacted to Sokratis comments on social media, expressing their desire to see the Greek leave in the summer.
