Arsenal fans are pleased that Torreira’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared

Several Arsenal fans have expressed relief after the extent of Lucas Torreira’s injury appears to be much less than many feared.

The Uruguay international looked to be in a bad way during Arsenal’s FA Cup clash against Portsmouth, having gone down under a heavy challenge from Portsmouth’s James Bolton.

The Gunners would beat the League One side 2-0 at Fratton Park, but after receiving oxygen and being taken off on a stretcher, plenty of fans were concerned about Torreira’s condition ahead of the final run-in of the season.

However, it now appears as though the 24-year old’s injury wasn’t as bad as first thought.

The commentary team on BT Sport confirmed last night that Torreira didn’t need to go to hospital following the knock, while the player himself later confirmed that he was “fine” when talking to ESPN Uruguay.

Following the downplaying of the severity of Torreira’s injury, a number of Arsenal fans took to social media to express their relief.
