Arsenal continue to scout potential Ozil replacement Szoboszlai

Arsenal are still tracking Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, according to football.london, and now the club should consider a summer move for Mesut Ozil’s successor.

The Gunners were first interested in the Hungary international last summer, with the midfielder named as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

Arsenal have scouted the 19-year-old since then, as have Inter Milan, Lazio and Juventus, with the teenager having impressed in Austria.

Playing primarily on the left, but also on the right and in the centre, Szoboszlai has scored four goals in all competitions for Salzburg this season, assisting a further six in 27 appearances (Transfermarkt).

With Ozil having entered the final 18 months of his contract at the Emirates, the 31-year old could soon need replacing, and the young midfielder who has been compared to Manchester United star Paul Pogba might be the right man to do so.

At just 19, Szoboszlai has Champions League experience under his belt, while his versatility could prove useful for Mikel Arteta, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future still up in the air.

Szoboszlai’s physicality may need to be worked on, and Arsenal fans would need to have patience with the young Hungarian, but he has enough ability and potential to prove to be a solid long-term investment for the Gunners.

Described by football.london as having strong vision, quick feet, a wonderful range of passing ability and superb footballing intelligence – similar traits to the German – Szoboszlai could be the ideal man to succeed Ozil and become the next young superstar at the Emirates.
