Arsenal will be hoping to keep their recent winning form going when they face a rejuvenated Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Since the resumption of their campaign after the mid-season break, Mikel Arteta’s men have won both of their games, keeping two clean sheets along the way.
On Sunday, they’ll face an Everton side who have been in excellent form under Carlo Ancelotti.
The Toffees are, in fact, a couple of points ahead of the Gunners in the table going into this game so it is not an overstatement to say that this is probably one of the games of the weekend.
In terms of team news for Arsenal, Mesut Ozil could be back in the squad after missing the Europa League game for to personal reasons.
Lucas Torreira was ill for the midweek game in Greece, but he has recovered and should be available too.
That all being said, here’s how we think Arteta may line his team up.
GK - Bernd Leno
Leno is Arsenal’s number one keeper and should be in goal against Everton. The German will be hoping to keep another clean sheet.
RB - Hector Bellerin
After getting a rest for the Europa League game, Bellerin is all but certain to be deployed in his right-back position in this match.
CB - Shkodran Mustafi
Mustafi’s form has been very good in the past few weeks. As a result of that, he should be one of the first names on the teamsheet, for now.
CB - David Luiz
Luiz has become a leader at the back for the Gunners since the arrival of Arteta. The Brazilian should keep his place in the side for the game against the Toffees
LB - Bukayo Saka
With other left-backs injured, Saka has begun to make that position his own The youngster is a key player in this team now and should be in the XI on Sunday.
CM - Granit Xhaka
Xhaka’s form has been very good under the new manager. The Swiss international should start in central midfield this weekend.
CM - Dani Ceballos
After an encouraging performance against Newcastle, Ceballos came off the bench against Olympiakos and made a positive difference. The Spaniard now deserves a starting role against Everton.
RW - Nicolas Pepe
Pepe played the last few minutes on Thursday after a whirlwind performance last week. The Ivorian is set to be back in the XI for this game.
CAM - Mesut Ozil
Ozil missed the Europa League trip to Greece due to personal reasons. The former German international should be back in the squad on Sunday and as such, he should be back in the XI.
LW - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Captain Aubameyang has been in good form, as usual, in the forward line for the Gunners. He is set to lead the team out on Sunday against Everton.
ST - Alexandre Lacazette
After a lengthy goal drought, Lacazette now has two goals in his last two games. As a result of that, the Frenchman warrants a place back in the XI for league games, starting with the game against Everton.
