Arsenal restarted their season after the winter break with an emphatic 4-0 win over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette scored the goals for the Gunners, who were slow to start with, but enjoyed a rampant second half.
As a matter of fact, it was the Magpies who started this game well and had a couple of decent chances on goal. However, they were not clinical enough.
Arsenal came out after the break and had more purpose in their play, and eventually, in the 54th minute, Pepe served up a cross for Aubameyang at the back post to score with a powerful header.
Three minutes later, Bukayo Saka nutmegged a defender before setting up Pepe for the second goal.
Mikel Arteta’s men made it three in the 90th minute with Ozil getting on the scoresheet, while Lacazette ended his goal drought to wrap up a comfortable afternoon for the Gunners.
With that win, along with Manchester City’s Champions League ban, Arsenal are still in the hunt to finish 5th and take that last spot to play in Europe’s elite club competition next season.
Here’s how we rated the Gunners after the game…
