Arsenal will look to return to winning ways when they face Sheffield United at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
Mikel Arteta’s men were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace last week, in a game where they showed a lot of courage despite being down to 10 men.
This week, the Gunners will be without their captain and top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as he serves the first of the three-game ban.
The Blades have had a great first season back in the top-flight. For the north London side, they continue to miss the services of Dani Ceballos, Kieran Tierney, while Sead Kolasinac is under the scanner and Hector Bellerin a doubt. As mentioned above, Aubameyang is suspended from this game.
That all being said, here’s how we think Arteta may line his team up:
GK - Bernd Leno
He is Arsenal’s number one keeper and should be in goal come Saturday afternoon.
RB - Ainsley Maitland-Niles
The youngster has done a good job at right-back amidst Bellerin’s absence. He should continue to start there against the Blades.
CB - Sokratis
The Greece international has done well under Arteta. His partnership with David Luiz is set to continue for this game.
CB - David Luiz
Luiz has been the leader at the back for the Gunners. He is probably one of the first names on the team sheet these days.
LB - Bukayo Saka
With Tierney out and Kolasinac a doubt, young Saka may have to do a job at left-back against the Blades.
CM - Granit Xhaka
Xhaka has been Arsenal’s best player under Arteta so far. He is set to start in central midfield this Saturday.
CM - Lucas Torreira
Even though he went off injured against Palace last week, the Uruguayan should be back in the XI for this weekend’s game.
RW - Nicolas Pepe
The summer signing has done well in the past few games and deserves to get another start. He would be gunning to take more responsibility in the absence of Aubameyang.
CAM - Mesut Ozil
Ozil has been a player reborn under Arteta. The former German international is probably one of the first names on the team sheet these days. His creativity will be required against a tight Sheffield United defence.
LW - Gabrielle Martinelli
Fit-again Martinelli is more or less expected to replace Aubameyang on the left-wing. The youngster has done well so far in an Arsenal shirt and would be required to continue his form in the coming games.
ST - Alexandre Lacazette
Lacazette’s work off the ball under Arteta has been good. However, the Frenchman has lacked the scoring touch for some time now. Arsenal fans would be hoping to he breaks his recent drought this Saturday.
