Arsenal appear to be closing in on their first January signing, with the Gunners reportedly in advanced talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa, according to The Athletic.
The report claims that Arsenal had officials watching the player during Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-1 win over AS Monaco on Wednesday.
Kurzawa is out of contract at the end of the season but wants to leave this month after falling out of favour.
With Kieran Tierney not expected to return before March, the Gunners have been left with just one recognised left-back in the form of Sead Kolasinac.

Twitter: @David_Ornstein @TheAthleticUK Why do we need him? We already have Tierney and Kolasinac. Seems a bit weird (@afclyle)

Twitter: @David_Ornstein @TheAthleticUK Club is very cautious about Tierney. This for me means he’s not coming back this season (@MoroccanGunner)
Twitter: @David_Ornstein @TheAthleticUK This guy is worse at defending than Kola! Can’t b an Arteta signing (@dapolashes)
Twitter: @David_Ornstein @EduardoHagn @TheAthleticUK No, No, No. Should be going for only fit players with very small injury… https://t.co/CKS1FJbyr5 (@BryanLowton)

The prospect of bringing in Kurzawa is a surprising one. He’s not a player who has been playing a starring role for PSG of late, having started just six league games (WhoScored) this season. He has done little to impress during those games either, with a match rating of 6.55 from WhoScored.
You have to wonder if bringing in a younger option than Kurzawa who could provide competition for Tierney and Kolasinac in the long run as it makes little sense to have three senior left-backs at the club.
