Atletico Madrid have reportedly earmarked Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette as a potential alternative to Edinson Cavani, according to Marca.
The report says that Diego Simeone’s side have made a move to sign the Paris Saint-Germain forward their ‘priority’ this month.
However, with Marca confirming that PSG are trying to keep the player until the summer when his contract expires, Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Lacazette as another option.

Arsenal could be left in a tricky position if Atletico Madrid step up their interest in Lacazette, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s long-term future also still up in the air. Mikel Arteta confirmed during his press conference prior to the Crystal Palace draw that contract talks are not currently on-going with the Gabonese striker.
As per a report the Daily Star, Real Madrid and Barcelona have been linked with Aubameyang recently, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2021.
With the Gabon striker yet to commit his future to Arsenal by signing a new contract, we believe that Arteta should be doing all he can to ensure Lacazette stays at the club as losing two top-class strikers in a short period of time would be a massive blow.
The two strikers have 19 goals in the Premier League between them, as per WhoScored, which equates to roughly 65 per cent of the Gunners’ 29 goals this season.
Replacing one, or both players in the summer is unlikely to be easy, which is we think Arsenal simply have to reject any approaches that come in for the Frenchman at this time.
