Arsenal finally win a game of football and start the 2020s decade in fine fashion by beating rivals Manchester United 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
The result takes them into the top half of the table, which is some positivity to build on.
Nicolas Pepe and Sokratis scored the goals for the Gunners in the first half to seal the deal.
After a fast start to the game, Arsenal took the lead in the eighth minute when Sead Kolasinac burst into the box with the ball, before his cutback took a deflection off Victor Lindelof and fell into the path of Pepe to score.
The lead was doubled three minutes before half-time when a near-post corner wasn’t dealt by United and David de Gea saved the initial header from Alexandre Lacazette. However, Sokratis was there to bundle the rebound home.
The away side had more of the ball in the second half, but they never looked like scoring despite getting into decent positions.
Arsenal’s shape off the ball was very good at times, which is credit to the team and the manager.
