Arsenal fans praise ‘superb’ David Luiz after Man United win

David Luiz hasn’t exactly been a favourite with the Arsenal fans following his move from Chelsea, however, plenty of supporters have praised the defender’s displays under Mikel Arteta.

The Brazilian started under Arteta for the third consecutive game against Manchester United, helping the Gunners to a vital defensive shutout in the 2-0 win.

First-half goals from club-record signing Nicolas Pepe and Luiz’s defensive partner Sokratis proved to be enough for the three points, but it was the 32-year-old’s performance that had many fans talking.

@PatrickTimmons1 began the praise with this tweet, labelling him as ‘exceptional’ under Arteta’s guidance.

The post allowed these supporters to weigh in with their views on the experienced defender.

Luiz is the only member of the playing squad with a Premier League winners medal, and he used all of his experience against United.

Arteta already has the defender doing what he did so well during his time with Chelsea, and hopefully, he can kick on and become a key member of the defence.

There have been many questions regarding the heart of the defence at the Emirates, but if both Luiz and Sokratis can perform as they did on New Year’s Day on a regular basis, then maybe there shouldn’t be so much concern.
