Arsenal confirm Chambers could miss nine months

Arsenal have confirmed that Calum Chambers could miss as much as nine months of football.

As reported by their official club website, the Gunners provided an update on the player after undergoing surgery today.

They reveal that Chambers, who ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, is now expected to take between six and nine months to recover, meaning he could miss the start of next season.

This is a really cruel blow for Chambers and you can’t help but feel sorry for him.

Just when it looked like he had finally got his big break at Arsenal, he has been struck down by yet another setback.

Due to miss nearly a year’s worth of football, this will only raise yet more questions about his long-term Arsenal future, with the club now backed to sign a new central defender during the January transfer window.

With the potential for yet more additions over the summer, the Gunners backline could look very different by the time he returns to full fitness.
