Arsenal have earmarked Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng as a potential January target.
According to reports from the Daily Star, Boateng could be available in the new year with the German currently out of favour with the Bundesliga heavyweights.
Despite both Lucas Hernandez and Niklas Sule suffering long-term injuries, Boateng has been limited to just eight league starts so far this season.

The 31-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to join Manchester United in the past during Jose Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford, but he opted to remain in Germany.

As short-term options go, a deal to sign Boateng in January might not be the worst option for Arsenal.
While he’s no longer one of the most feared defenders in Europe, as he was during Pep Guardiola’s time in Germany, Boateng has plenty of experience under his belt that could make him a useful option for Arsenal in their current situation.
Calum Chambers’ injury against Chelsea on Sunday means that the Gunners are short of options at the back and it looks like one of the first areas that Arteta will need to strengthen in January.
