Mikel Arteta has told Arsenal that he wants to bring in a midfielder and at least two defenders during the January transfer window.
According to France Football, as cited on Get French Football News, Arteta has outlined his January plans as he looks to get down to work with his squad in North London.
The new Arsenal manager has wasted no time in making some big changes and has clearly identified the defence as an area where they need to improve going forward.
Plenty expected the Gunners to pursue a new central defender in January given that it’s a position that they have been left short in this season.

The positions that Arteta has identified won’t come as a major surprise to too many Arsenal fans.
In particular, the central midfield role – it’s one that Unai Emery never really found a perfect match for during the first half of the campaign.
He often chopped and changed between players and clearly, Arteta wants to bring in some reinforcement in this area.
The same goes for the heart of Arsenal’s defence. During their previous six games, the Gunners have only used the same defensive pairing twice, which highlights the unbalance and need for consistency at the back.
