Ahead of starting the Mikel Arteta Arsenal era, Freddie Ljungberg closed out his interim spell with a dull 0-0 draw away at Everton in a game that lacked quality from the get go.
Both teams struggled to find fluidity in their play, and it was pretty evident that they are short on confidence.
On a day where the Gunners had new manager Arteta watching from the stands, the players played a good game without really testing the Everton back-line.
Their first chance came in the 44th minute when Gabriel Martinelli was played through, but the Brazilian had his shot wide of the near post.
Arsenal had more of the ball in the second half, but the final ball quality was subpar more often than not.
All in all, a point is not a bad result for them given the fact that their form has been horrendous since October.
For Arteta, a draw away at Everton is a decent result to begin his work from.
