Arsenal have officially confirmed Mikel Arteta as the club’s new head coach.
The Gunners shared the news on their website on Friday afternoon, confirming a three-and-a-half-year contract for the former midfielder.
Arteta takes over as Unai Emery’s long-term successor after the Spaniard was sacked last month.
The 37-year-old was earmarked as the club’s top target following the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend, and the Gunners have finally got a deal over the line.
Arteta joins from the defending Premer League champions after spending three-and-a-half years at the Etihad as Pep Guardiola’s assistant.

The former Gunners midfielder has been tipped by many to go right to the top and he’ll be looking to make an immediate impact in his first senior managerial role.
Arteta spent five years as a player in north London and has been learning his trade alongside one of the best in Guardiola.
If he can have half the impact that his former colleague has had with Manchester City, his appointment will turn out to be an excellent one.
