Many Arsenal fans label Aubameyang’s Spurs strike as club’s ‘goal of the year’

Numerous Arsenal fans have labelled Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s effort against Tottenham in September as the club’s ‘goal of the year’.

The 30-year-old latched on to Matteo Guendouzi’s exquisite lofted ball with 20 minutes remaining and poked home past Huge Lloris to equalise for the Gunners after falling 2-0 behind against their rivals.

The effort from the now club-captain rescued a point in the first north London derby of the season and kept the gap between the two sides at four points.

And when Arsenal fan @PatrickTimmons1 asked his followers for their player, performance, goal, signing, biggest disappointment and best memory of the year, it was Aubameyang’s strike against Spurs that popped up from multiple fans.

Although there are several other technically better strikes over the past 12 months, it’s safe to say that fans are grateful for Aubameyang saving their blushes against Spurs.

Overall, it’s been a year to forget for the Gunners, and supporters will be hoping to have more to cheer about on the pitch in 2020.
