Mikel Arteta has reportedly left Manchester City ahead of his imminent arrival at Arsenal.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal’s ex-midfielder has now officially parted ways with Manchester City.
It has become a case of when and not if Arteta is named the new Arsenal boss, but this latest update suggests the deal is very close.
Manchester City face Oxford United in the Carabao Cup this evening and Arteta had been poised to travel with the squad, despite talks with Arsenal already underway.
However, it looks like a breakthrough has been made before, with City obviously keen to keep their focus on tonight’s quarter-final clash.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Pep Guardiola confirmed that talks between the two parties were underway. Understandbly keen to see him stay, Guardiola remained coy on the rumours linking Arteta with a return back to his former club.
It remains to be seen if and when he’ll be unveiled at Arsenal, although previous reports have claimed the club want everything tied up before the weekend.
