Premier League legends: How have they fared in their first managerial role?

Mikel Arteta looks like he’ll be the next person hired by a Premier League club as a manager having featured as a player in the same league. Arteta spent 11 years in the English top-flight as a player with spells at Everton and Arsenal, and now it looks like he’s about to take over as the manager of the Gunners. If the Spaniard is placed in the Emirates hot-seat, will his playing experience mean he’ll be a success? Plenty of Premier League legends have taken up managerial roles in the past, but how have they performed in their first jobs?
