There is no doubting that Arsenal are in dire need of a new centre-back in the January transfer window. The Gunners have been far from good enough at the back this season, as illustrated by their 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend. They were opened up too easily, with Calum Chambers and Sokratis struggling to cope with the movement of the Man City forward players.
Demiral has not been able to force his way into Juventus’ XI on a regular basis, although that is hardly a statement on his ability given he has De Ligt, Bonucci and Chiellini ahead of him. With Leicester now moving in for Demiral, Arsenal will need to decide quickly on whether or not they want to sign the defender to bolster their own squad – or if they want to pursue other options.
