Mikel Arteta appears to be closing in on becoming Unai Emery’s long-term successor as Arsenal boss.
The former midfielder held initial talks with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and Arsenal’s lawyer Huss Fahmy on Sunday evening.
The Spaniard, who is currently Pep Guardiola’s assistant, was set to have final discussions with director Josh Kroenke on Monday evening ahead of becoming the new boss, according to the Telegraph.
The report also claimed that Manchester City would allow Arteta to leave for North London if compensation is paid, however, they have been left ‘bemused’ by Arsenal’s behaviour regarding their approach.
@ZRAFC shared the news on social media, which then led to these Arsenal fans hitting back at City’s views.

A decision needed to be made, and it’s good to see the board finally taking matters into their own hands by approaching Arteta.
Perhaps they should’ve spoken with City before contacting the 37-year-old, but hopefully, a new boss will be appointed before the trip to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday.
