Mikel Arteta is set for a final meeting with Arsenal tonight as he closes in on landing the job to take over at The Emirates.
According to The Daily Mail, he is poised to meet with the club to discuss a move from Manchester City, after expressing interest in the job during initial talks.
The report claims that he is keen on becoming Arsenal’s next manager and that the club have spoken to Manchester City regarding compensation for the Spaniard – who is currently Pep Guardiola’s number two.
READ ARSENAL VERDICT

This is a very tough one to judge, given that Arteta has not managed a senior side in his career to date. He has enjoyed great success as a number two at Manchester City, winning back-to-back Premier League titles, but it is impossible to know how that would translate to working as the main man with a different set of staff.
What we can say, though, is that he would attempt to play an attractive style at football – judging by the way Manchester City are coached and how he played as a player – and that he would add passion to the job. Arteta served Arsenal well during his playing days and knows the club inside and out, which can only be seen as a positive.
