Arsenal scouts watched Smalling against Inter

Arsenal scouts were reportedly present to watch Chris Smalling in action against Inter last week.

According to reports, Arsenal appear to be stepping up their interest, watching the Manchester United loanee in action.

Everton and Leicester are also said to be in the running, but the latest reports say Arsenal are at the front of the queue to sign the player.

Smalling has been impressing in Serie A this season and his form is clearly not going unnoticed.

Arsenal would’ve had a good look at Smalling against Inter. Antonio Conte’s side have been one of the more clinical sides in Italy this season.

Romelu Lukaku and Lauturo Martinez have formed one of the best strike partnerships in Europe this season, but Smalling and his Roma side held them to a 0-0 draw, in what was a well-deserved clean sheet.

In a game that was largely overshadowed by horrific racist claims in the media, Smalling put in a brilliant display agianst Inter, with Gareth Southgate also believed to be keeping an eye on his form.

A permanent move to Roma could still be a possibility for the United defender, but either way, Smalling is unlikely to be short of suitors beyond the summer.
