Torreira wanted by Napoli as Milan cool their interest

AC Milan have cooled their interest in Arsenal star Lucas Torreira, but Napoli have now entered the race to sign him.

According to the latest reports from Calcio Mercato, Napoli are keen to bring the player back to Italy.

It is claimed that the player himself would be open to a move back to Serie A after leaving Sampdoria for the Gunners.

The report adds that chief scout Maurizio Micheli to sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli are both admirers of the player.

Milan may have cooled their interest in the player but it seems like a matter of time before Arsenal lose the midfielder to Italy.

Clearly, Torreira hasn’t settled in England and he’s someone who hasn’t been able to show his best football during his time in London.

Unai Emery’s misuse of the player was well documented, while he started for the first time under Freddie Ljungberg against Brighton on Thursday night.

It does feel like this is a move that would suit both parties, even if it’ll leave the Gunners wondering what could’ve been for the player. Sometimes, transfers just aren’t meant to work out.
