Saha backs Vieira to land the Arsenal job

Louis Saha has claimed that Patrick Vieira would be the perfect man to take over at Arsenal following the sacking of Unai Emery.

Saha says that he would love to see Vieira become the next Arsenal manager, as he is most suited to the job.

Emery was sacked following a Europa League defeat to Frankfurt, with Freddie Ljungberg overseeing the 2-2 draw with Norwich last Sunday.

As quoted by The Metro, Saha said this:

I would love to see Patrick Vieira as Arsenal’s next manager; there are other contenders for the job but none as suitable as him. I’m not saying that because he is my friend, he has done a great job in management over the years.

When I saw Patrick at Man City, it didn’t make any sense to me – he would have been perfect at Arsenal.

Vieira is currently managing Nice in Ligue 1, who are 14th in the table as it stands and have already conceded 26 goals. This comes after a 7th-placed finish last season, in which they scored a meagre 30 goals in 38 games throughout the campaign.

His statistics on paper suggest that he would be far from an ideal appointment for Arsenal, with calls for him to come in seemingly just being based on him being a club legend. Vieira knows the club inside and out and would bring passion to the job, that is for sure, but you need more to be a top-level manager in the modern age and he is yet to prove that he has what it takes.
