Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Spanish manager Marcelino about the prospect of replacing Unai Emery.
According to Goal, as cited on the Daily Star, Arsenal have stepped up their interest amid potential competition from Everton.
It is claimed that the Toffees are also watching on as they consider Marco Silva’s position at the club.
Marcelino has been out of work since leaving the La Liga side back in September.

Marcelino was a manager that had been working himself up the Spanish football food chain, with recent spells at Sevilla, Villarreal and Valencia.
He boasted a 50 per cent win ratio at the latter, with a relatively decent record during his two years in charge. His Copa Del Rey success last season shouldn’t be overlooked either.

Goals from Kevin Gamiero and Rodrigo helped Valencia beat a below-par Barcelona side fairly comfortably towards the end of the campaign.
He also has the recent experience of guiding a club into the Champions League, something that Arsenal desperately need. Whether or not the Spaniard is a big enough name to please supporters remains to be seen.
