Arsenal fans want club to pull plug on deal for Rodriguez and move for Ziyech

Arsenal are interested in Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez, but some fans are calling for the club to move for Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech instead.

According to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, cited by @GurjitAFC, the Gunners are willing to offer €42m for the 28-year-old who has fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu.

Madrid are holding out for offers in the region of €50m, with Arsenal keen on adding to their attacking midfield ranks over the next six months.

The news quickly made its way across social media on Thursday, and instead of signing Rodriguez, plenty of Arsenal fans were keen for the club to invest in Ziyech instead.

Ziyech was heavily linked with a move to North London over the summer, however, Arsenal and Tottenham both failed to secure the Moroccan’s services.

The midfield maestro was one of Ajax’s key players in their run to the Champions League semi-finals last season, and chief Edwin van der Sar admitted recently that the club will lose more players next year.

Those comments should have caught Arsenal’s eye and the 26-year-old would be a better value for money signing over Rodriguez.

The Gunners would probably be able to fork out less for Ziyech, and he’s arguably been the better player out of the two over recent years.

So, were with these fans in thinking the club should be looking at the Ajax ace over the Madrid man.
