Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was quick to respond to the news of Unai Emery’s sacking, and his social media post has gone down very well with supporters.
Emery was relieved of his duties in North London on Friday morning, just over 12 hours after the club’s 2-1 Europa League defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The news went down well with several fans, who had been desperate for the club to part ways with the 48-year-old in recent weeks.
However, the Spaniard’s dismissal led to shot-stopper Martinez heaping praise on the former manager.
The 27-year-old thanked and apologised to Emery and goalkeeper coach Javi Garcia on Twitter.

His post led to plenty of replies from Arsenal fans, who were quick to hail the Argentine for his ‘classy’ response.

Emery showed real faith in Martinez in recent months and started the ‘keeper in the club’s cup competitions, so it’s understandable why he wanted to publicly thank the Spaniard.
It’s great to see a member of the Arsenal squad showing appreciation for Emery, but Martinez will now have to focus on impressing the next permanent Gunners boss to cement his Emirates future.
