# Sacking Emery would set Arsenal back £4m

One report has revealed that sacking Unai Emery would set Arsenal back roughly £4 million.

[According to the Daily Mail, as cited on Sports Mole](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/arsenal/sack-race/news/unai-emery-sack-would-cost-arsenal-gbp4m_380743.html), the Spaniard would be due a compensation fee of £4 million if he were to be sacked in the near future.

When compared to recent Premier League sackings, the £4 million may seem like small change against the near £20 million that Spurs [spent](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/news/huge-cost-sacking-mauricio-pochettino-17284162) to sack Mauricio Pochtetino and his coaching staff recently.

The dilemma that the Arsenal board find themselves in is the fact that they know Emery can walk away from the club for free at the end of the season.

Arsenal are eight points off the top four. It’s a gap that will be tough to close given the nature of the competition around them. Not impossible, but tough none the less.

Arsenal would be taking a £4 million gamble on hoping that the ‘new manager bounce’ can lift the squad to mount a serious top-four push during the second half of the season.

For a relatively small fee, it may just be a risk worth taking. If the new manager, whoever that might be, could somehow guide the Gunners back into the top four then it’ll be money well spent.
