Arsenal fans keen on Atal links, but calls for club to sell Bellerin are rash

Arsenal and Tottenham have been tipped to do battle for Nice defender Youcef Atal in January, and the news has gone down very well with several Gunners supporters.

The 23-year-old has impressed in Ligue 1 over the last 18 months and has also been the subject of recent interest from sides in Germany, Italy and Spain.

However, it appears as if the Gunners and Spurs are the two teams who are at the front of the queue for Atal’s services.

Both sides could firm up their interest over the coming months if the full-back pursues a move away from his current side.

And when @afcSource shared the news on Tuesday, it got these Arsenal fans very excited.

Some were even calling for the club to sell current first-choice right-back Hector Bellerin.

There’s no doubting that Atal would be a shrewd signing, however, calls for the club to part ways with Bellerin are rash.

The Spaniard has been with the Gunners through thick and thin and is approaching the prime of his career.

Bellerin is growing as a player and a leader for the club, so selling the 24-year-old to replace him with Atal would be silly.

Having both Atal and Bellerin on the books in north London would give the Gunners two of the best right-backs in the Premier League.

We’re all for the club pipping Tottenham to the Algerian’s signature, but only if they keep hold of Bellerin as well.
