On this day in 2003, Arsenal were at the peak of their powers and became the first English team to win at the San Siro, defeating Inter Milan in the Champions League 5-1.
Thierry Henry inspired the Gunners to a famous win in Europe, scoring a brace which included a memorable solo goal.
Edu, Freddie Ljungberg and Robert Pires, three players who are still all associated with the club now, also scored for Arsene Wenger’s side.

It’s great to look back at brilliant moments from the past, but with the Gunners’ woeful form under Unai Emery in recent months, perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to bring the good times back to light.
Arsenal are lightyears away from matching the quality of the 2003/04 side, but Emery’s dismissal would help put the club on the right track.
If they can get the next managerial appointment right, then who knows, over the next five years, Arsenal could have a side to be proud of, similar to the team that demolished Inter Milan 16 years ago.
